ROOT CANAL TREATMENT
ROOT CANAL TREATMENT:
An opening is made through the crown of the tooth into the pulp chamber. The pulp is then removed. The root canal(s) is cleaned and shaped to a form that can be filled. The pulp is removed, and the root canals are cleaned, enlarged and shaped.Filling is done with protaper G.P. Points and is completed by giving a post and coree followed by a crown upon it.
What are posts & cores ?.
A post is a metallic/plastic structure , available in prefabricated or custom made form that is placed within the body of the root of a tooth that has had previous root canal therapy. The part of post that can be cemented is called core. It is cemented permanently into your tooth usually separate from crown. The crown is then ready to be placed
What are crowns?
A dental crown is a tooth-shaped "cap" that is placed over a tooth -- to cover the tooth to restore its shape and size, strength, and improve its appearance.
The crowns, when cemented into place, fully encase the entire visible portion of a tooth that lies at and above the gum line.
